What Is FSSAI ?
FOOD SAFETY AND STANDARD AUTHORITY OF INDIA (FSSAI) is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, The Government of India. This authority regulates the quality of food and supervises the standard of food provided in the market. This authority provides food license to the organization dealing with the business of food and its supply in India. The authority registered under Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006 to consolidate the regulations related to the food safety across India. Any person can apply for the food license; the person can be an individual natural person, or private limited company, limited liability partnership, firm, an association of person, other body corporate. If any company’s main activity is related to food preparation or other human consumable items then that entity has to apply for FSSAI registration or license only after company registration as at the time of FSSAI registration the certificate of registration has to be submitted to the government.
It is also known as food license, FSSAI license, food registration. The authority takes care of the public health by framing regulation for the food and its item and by supervision of food safety so that the public get a good quality of food supply. The main responsibility of the authority is to check the quality of the food and grant license if the organization pass the quality check. FSSAI sets the rules and regulations for the organizations dealing in the food sector. Every organization dealing in food business necessary to take food registration or license irrespective of turnover of the business, it is mandatory to apply for the license for every food sector business. If any organization is dealing in Import or Export business for food products then they should apply for the Import Export Code (IEC) along with FSSAI License. If any organization took GST Registration for its business of food including café, dhaba, hawkers, etc. as a proprietorship even then the FSSAI is mandatory. FSSAI License or food license is a certificate provided by the authority that the organization ensure the quality check of food quality and they maintained the quality of food. There are some basic licenses which are required to taken by the business entity which are dealing in restaurant services or hotel services like company registration or LLP registration or proprietorship whichever is required, FSSAI registration and Trademark registration.
FSSAI Certificate
1. Complete and signed form b
2. Photo of the owner of fbo establishment
3. Identity proof of the owner of fbo like pan card, ration card, aadhar card, driving license, passport, voter id card, senior citizen card, department issued id
4. Supporting documents like noc by municipality/panchayat, health noc, if any.
1. Form b duly completed and signed by the proprietor/owner/authorized signatory
2. Blueprint of the processing unit showing dimensions in meters or square (for manufacturing and processing unit only)
3. List of director/partner/proprietor/member of society/trust with full address and contact details
4. Name and list of equipment, machinery along with installed capacity and horsepower used (mandatory for manufacturing and processing unit)
5. Photo I.D. And address proof of proprietor/partner/owner/authorized signatory
6. List of food categories desired to be manufactured. ( for manufacturing unit)
7. Authorization letter from the manufacturer for a responsible person who will assist the officer in inspection, collection of sample, packing & dispatch.
8. The analysis report of water, if it is used as ingredients from recognized/ public health laboratory.
9. Proof of possession of premises. (sale deed/rent agreement/ electricity bill)
10. Partnership deed/ affidavit of proprietorship*
11. Constitution or bye-laws of the firm like moa of company or agreement
12. Noc & copy of the license from the manufacturer (mandatory only for relabellers or repacker)*
13. Food safety management system plan or certificate (if any)*
14. Source of milk or milk procurement plan for milk including the location of milk collection centres etc. [for milk and milk processing unit] (wherever applicable)
15. Source of raw material for meat and meat processing plants. (wherever applicable)
16. Pesticide residue report of water in case fbo is manufacturing packaged drinking water, packaged mineral water and/or carbonated water from recognized/public health laboratory
17. Recall plan wherever applicable, with details on whom the product is distributed
18. Noc from the municipality or local body
19. Form ix nomination of a person by a company along with board resolution.*
20. Certificate provided by the ministry of tourism. (mandatory for hotels)
21. For transporters-supporting documentary proof for turnover or self-declaration of number of vehicles (mandatory for transporters)
22. Declaration form *

25. NOC/PA document issued by FSSAI (when multiple documents merged into one document and then uploaded)
